Are you employed but at risk of redundancy, or have you been unemployed for less than twelve months?
The Skills Checkpoint & Training Incentive for Older Workers Program is an Australian Government initiative to assist mature age Australians to update their skills and stay in the workforce.

Eligible participants receive a skills checkpoint assessment, advice and guidance on upskilling for their current role, finding a new career, or help to discover options for further education and training opportunities and up to $2,200 (GST inclusive) to jointly fund education and training opportunities identified in your Skills Checkpoint assessment.
This program is available to Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents (in all states and territories) who are aged 40 years and over
and not receiving Australian Government employment assistance.
Whether you require support and skills to remain in your current role, transition to a new role or transition to a new career path, Skills Checkpoint can help.
How do I apply?
There are a limited number of Training Incentives available each financial year, so you must speak with your designated provider about accessing the Incentive when undertaking the Skills Checkpoint for older workers program.
Only the designated provider in your state (listed below) can suitably assess your eligibility for the Skills checkpoint Program and the Skills and Training Incentive.
Please note that you must not enrol and pay for the training before contacting your provider for this program.
Before you undertake the training, your Skills Checkpoint provider must first:
- Assess your ability
- Complete a Skills Checkpoint program
- Register you for the training incentive
- Assist you to enrol in the training*
- Invoice the co-contribution, and
- Make total payment to the training organisation
